About This Quote

When people like to say that they want nothing, they're not really saying it. It's more like, "I wish I didn't want anything." When we open up and tell someone we want something, however, we're telling the world that we want something. It's as if we're saying, "Here I am. You can have me." But what makes us worthy of such a privilege? What gives us the right to place ourselves at the disposal of others? We can all say we don't want anything for ourselves, but who are we kidding? We all want something.

If you ask me, though, I'd say it's all right to want very little indeed. As long as you don't put it in your head that you should have things because you asked for them.
